The idea for this presentation is to present information that teachers can use to improve the use of technology in their classrooms.
Blogs are basically an easy to update website that anyone can use with basic computer knowledge. If you can type and turn your computer on you can run your own blog.
Why am I teaching this?
1. I am a huge technology geek and I am always looking for new ideas!
2. I have a Masters Degree in Educational Technology
3. I have 3 Blogs including this one.
- Somonauk Blue Room Blog is a blog that I used for my weight training class while at Somonauk. Students still use it to this day to find workout ideas. Also presented this Idea at Western Illinois University when I was asked to be a guest teacher for a day.
- Basketballdrillzone is a blog that I have been updating since June. I currently have over 4000 hits from over a dozen Countries.
Main Points
1. This is a quick presentation designed to promote teachers to look into using blogs while teaching and as a resource outside of the classroom.
- This could easily be a 2 week class on how to use all of the tools I am going to show you.
- For the most part I only use tools available through google and they are all very easy to use.
- I would be more than happy to help anyone create their own blog.
BLOGS IN THE CLASSROOM
The basic use of my blog in the classroom is to link myself and students to information we are using in class. I do not teach the material by typing it out on the blog. Instead I link documents and presentations so that students can click on them and have all of our classroom notes at their fingertips.

- There are other blog hosts available such as wordpress
